This Pre-Entry Tuberculosis Screening will apply to nationals of the Philippines, Nepal, & Vietnam who intend to enter and stay in Japan as “mid- to long-term residents (more than 3 months)”.

In the future, similar requirements will apply to those entering from Indonesia, Myanmar, and China, however, the start dates for screening reception and certificate submission requirements for these countries have not yet been determined. We will promptly provide updated information as it becomes available.
Important
- After the certificate submission becomes mandatory, those who meet this criteria must submit a TB Clearance Certificate when applying for a Certificate of Eligibility or visa. Without this certificate, your Certificate of Eligibility will not be issued, and your visa will not be granted.
Persons to whom this requirement does not apply
- Those who have a re-entry permit to Japan
- Those whose current residence is in a country or region other than the eligible countries, as verified by a residence permit or other documentation
- JET Programme participants
- JICA trainees
- JDS students
- Japanese Government Scholarship students recommended by embassies (*Requires correspondence if recommended by a university)
